Chailey
Bonfire Night by Jim Hatfield.
Took the waggon to Chailey Bonfire night. Bonfire is big in Sussex, especially
Lewes, & goes on for three weekends. My crew consisted of three international
post graduates. Daniella Rabino is from New York, Risa, Mochizuki is from
Japan, both being Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars, & Shital Badwaik is an
Indian Government Scholar. They all did brilliantly & learned
a bit about Guy Fawkes & about Sentinels.
Daniella fired for me when we took the waggon to Cuckfield Carnival in October.
Shital has been out with me & Derek Gransden & Ian Woollett &
the VIC crew in the summer in Ian's steam tug 'Barking' & she has fired
that.
The railway crane
behind the waggon outside my shed was my
Christmas present to Jean about four years ago. When he visited after the
Brighton Run last year, Stuart Gray nearly didn't get any supper because he
was busy ticking Jean off for 'not having painted it yet'.
